Ministry of Defense Develops Technical Requirements for Tourniquets According to NATO Standards.


The Ministry of Defense begins developing requirements for tourniquets for battlefield medical assistance in accordance with NATO standards. This was reported by the press service of the department.
The Department of Health Protection of the Ministry of Defense 'focuses on creating requirements for gateway and lever-type tourniquets, occlusive thoracic dressings, as well as methodologies for evaluating their compliance with international standards'.
The department initiated inquiries to defense attachés at Ukrainian embassies in NATO member countries regarding quality requirements for hemostatic tourniquets.
According to the obtained data, the ministry analyzed its capabilities to create requirements for mechanical devices to stop bleeding. In addition, the Ministry of Defense submitted an application to the NATO Science & Technology Organization for a grant to create a laboratory for testing and evaluating tourniquets and medical assistance devices.
It is worth noting that the skill of using tourniquets is mandatory at all levels of medical assistance training.
Earlier, it was reported that the Ministry of Defense created a new Ukrainian-made drone-bomber called 'Black Widow'. It can operate both in FPV format and as an attack quadcopter. The use of such a drone was reduced due to its low cost. The copter has enhanced rechargeable explosives.
