Gas boilers in question: what actually awaits Ukrainians after the EU decision.

What the European Parliament's decision means
Against the backdrop of numerous alarming reports in the media about a possible ban on gas boilers, the informational resource 'Gazpravda' explains the latest decisions by the European Parliament and their impact on Ukraine.
'This decision will mark the beginning of a large-scale transition to environmentally friendly heating systems,' notes 'Gazpravda' host Iryna Polotay.
According to the approved plan, starting in 2030, gas and coal heating systems will be banned in new buildings in EU countries, and by 2040 there should be a complete transition to alternative sources of heat.
How will this affect Ukraine?
'But does this concern Ukraine? Not yet. It's strictly about the countries of the European Union,' emphasizes Iryna Polotay.
Even if Ukraine joins the EU, the process of moving away from gas will be very challenging. After the full-scale invasion, gas consumption in the country has already significantly decreased.
Preparation for winter 2025/2026
Ukraine is already importing gas through nearly empty underground storage facilities. For citizens, the price of gas remains unchanged for now.
'Therefore, Ukrainians definitely should not worry about a potential gas refusal already next winter. Our media should refrain from misleading people with controversial headlines,' concludes Iryna Polotay.
There is also an emphasis on the importance of adhering to safety rules when using gas and checking gas networks.
