Ukrainians were shown the catastrophic difference between mortality and birth rate in numbers.

The demographic situation in Ukraine is critical, as according to the results of 2024, the total mortality rate almost tripled that of the birth rate.
According to the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, 495,090 Ukrainians died last year, while only 176,679 children were born.
The situation has worsened compared to 2023. 'The birth rate in 2024 decreased by 5.8% compared to the previous year, when 187.3 thousand children were born,' reported the Ministry of Justice.
Kyiv topped the list of regions by the number of newborns - 19.7 thousand infants. Following the capital are Lviv region with 15.6 thousand newborns and Dnipropetrovsk region with 14 thousand babies.
High birth rates are also present in Odesa (12.5 thousand) and Kyiv (10.2 thousand) regions.

The highest number of deaths was recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk region - 53,268 people. In Kyiv, this figure was 35,528 people, and in Kharkiv region - 34,883 people.
Odesa and Kyiv regions also made the list of regions with the highest mortality rates, where 32,147 and 29,339 people died respectively.
This demographic imbalance is a serious problem, as the mortality rate exceeds the birth rate by 2.8 times, threatening the demographic future of the country.
A demographic strategy until 2040 was previously approved.
