Ukraine has begun preparations for the heating season 2025-2026.
Ukraine is preparing for the upcoming heating season and developing a gas import strategy to prevent potential shortages.
This was reported by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal following a meeting of the Anti-Crisis Energy Headquarters.
The meeting discussed the current state of the heating season and the gas supply situation amid Russian shelling. Particular attention was paid to issues of protection and restoration of critical infrastructure of the gas transportation system, storage facilities, and extraction sites.
The Ministry of Energy has been instructed to coordinate the process of protecting facilities together with the military. The details of this work are not disclosed.
Participants of the meeting listened to reports from the Ministry of Energy, state and private companies regarding the extraction of Ukrainian gas and filling storage facilities, including planned indicators for the current year.
'Naftogaz' has been tasked with preparing a gas import strategy to cover potential shortages in the gas transportation system. At the same Time, according to the Prime Minister, the main focus is on increasing domestic gas production in Ukraine.
