On September 27, hurricane "Helen" ravaged the southeastern United States and claimed the lives of at least 35 people. This was reported by AP.
It is noted that strong winds uprooted trees and damaged houses, and floods led to road and infrastructure flooding. Many people were trapped in damaged buildings.
Local services report significant flooding, millions of homes were left without power.
According to meteorologists, the hurricane will weaken as it moves through Tennessee and Kentucky. Heavy rains are also expected in the Appalachian Mountains, which may cause landslides and sudden floods.
Recall that hurricane "Helen" hit the coast of Florida with wind speeds reaching 140 miles per hour. It is reported that the hurricane brings life-threatening storm surges, floods, and destructive winds. The US National Weather Service warned of "unbearable" storm surges in the Apalachee Bay.
