Russia organizes an online march of the 'Immortal Regiment' for Victory Day

In Russia, on May 9, an online march of the 'Immortal Regiment' took place with portraits of people who participated in World War II. However, among them were highlighted photographs of Ukrainian and American figures that were created by artificial intelligence. This was reported by the project 'Television Toronto'.

Journalists discovered the portrait of 'Oleksiy Parmezanov', which was actually an image of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi. The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, was personified as 'Kyrylo Budyonnyi', while the US special envoy Steve Vitkoff became Semen Vitkovyi.

It is currently known that the 'people's chronicle' website contains over 960,000 names and is constantly being updated with new stories. On this web resource, families can publish memories of their veteran, his military path, family photographs, and videos.

On May 9, a military parade took place in Moscow, attended by heads of state from various parts of the world. At the same Time, the presidents of Azerbaijan and Laos refused to visit Russia's capital at the last moment. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine noted that the participation of foreign servicemen in the parade is unacceptable and will be regarded as an offense to the memory of the victory over Nazism.

The Russian Federation plans to spend at least 1.5 billion rubles ($18.6 million) on the celebrations on May 9. Almost three hundred air defense systems were also deployed in Moscow, and restrictions on mobile internet were introduced in some areas.

Analyzing the material, it is worth noting that the use of artificial intelligence in creating portraits of World War II participants and its consequences raise doubts about the reliability of information in the online environment. Moreover, the controversies during the Victory Day celebrations in Moscow indicate deep political rifts and strained relations between countries.
