Rocket strike on Chernihiv claimed the life of an associate professor of the Institute of Postgraduate Education.

On January 3, during an air raid alert, the occupiers attacked the city of Chernihiv with ballistic missiles from the Kursk region. Preliminary reports indicated that three 'Iskander-M' ballistic missiles were used. As a result of this rocket strike, Alexei Halionka, an associate professor of the Department of Philological Disciplines and the Methodology of Their Teaching at the Chernihiv Regional Institute of Postgraduate Education named after Ushynsky, was killed.
The rector of the institute, Anatoly Zalysky, reported this. The deceased was 72 years old. Additionally, the head of the Chernihiv Military Administration, Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, confirmed that Russian troops delivered a triple rocket strike on residential buildings on the outskirts of Chernihiv. Two residential buildings were completely destroyed, and about 10 others were damaged. As a result of this attack, a 72-year-old civilian man was killed, and five people were injured.
It is worth noting that in March 2022, Alexei Halionka's house was completely burned down after being hit by Russian shells. In recent years, he lived in a makeshift facility. Since then, he worked part-Time.
