The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on Energy and Housing and Communal Services plans to address the Ministry of Energy and the NCRECP with a proposal to ease the gas quality requirements. This was announced by the first deputy head of the Committee Oleksiy Kucherenko, as reported by 'Glavkom'. According to him, the existing penalties for the physicochemical properties of gas create additional financial pressure on market participants and may negatively affect the activities of the gas transmission system operator (GTS). 'I believe that we can address the Ministry, the NCRECP, to create a mechanism for easing penalties, as the GTS operator must remain uninvolved,' emphasized Kucherenko. He believes it is necessary to find a balanced solution that will reduce the burden on market participants while taking into account the current challenges in the gas industry. Gas market analyst ExPro Consulting Mykhailo Svyshcho stated that gas extraction companies affected by attacks from Russia continue to incur significant financial costs due to the rules for booking capacities in the gas transmission system and penalties.
