On Tuesday, February 11, an AP correspondent was not allowed to enter the Oval Office during President Donald Trump’s signing of a new directive. The organization must consider the president's order regarding the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico and align its operational standards.

In January, Trump expressed a desire to rename the Gulf of Mexico to 'the Gulf of America.' Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum suggests responding by renaming the U.S. to 'Mexican America.' Google announced that it wants to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the American Gulf in Google Maps. On February 11, Google Maps officially renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the American Gulf.
