Pharmacy Basket: How Much Ukrainians Spent on Medicines Last Year.


According to the results of 2024, pharmacy sales in Ukraine increased by 10.67% in monetary terms - to UAH 192.843 billion, but in physical terms decreased by 5% - to over 1.157 billion packages, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
According to Business Credit, the weighted average price of pharmacy basket goods increased by 16.53% over the year and amounted to UAH 166.59. Pharmacy sales of medicinal products increased by 10.83% - to UAH 151 billion, but in physical terms decreased by 5.64% - to 810.155 million packages. The weighted average price of medicines increased by 17.45% and amounted to UAH 186.39.
Pharmacy sales of dietary supplements increased by 11.06% in monetary terms - to UAH 19.992 billion, but in physical terms decreased by 3.06% - to 99.012 million packages. The weighted average price in this segment increased by 14.56% and amounted to UAH 201.92 per unit of goods.
According to Business Credit, in most segments of the pharmacy basket, there was a decline in sales in physical terms, except for dermatocosmetics (+1.34%), medical equipment (+6.29%), mineral water (+3.82%), and dressing materials (+6.61%).
As of January-June 2024
In the first half of 2024, pharmacy sales in Ukraine increased by 12.67% in monetary terms - to UAH 94.784 billion, but in physical terms decreased by 4.7% - to 583.21 million packages. The weighted average price of pharmacy basket goods for this period increased by 18.25% and amounted to UAH 162.52.
Pharmacy sales of medicinal products in the first half of 2024 amounted to UAH 74.258 billion, which is 12.68% more than a year ago, however, in physical terms, it decreased by 5.13% - to 408.796 million packages. The weighted average retail price of medicines for the first half of 2024 increased by 18.67% and amounted to UAH 181.65.
