Zelensky talked about how the Russians blackmailed the employees of the Zaporizhzhia NPP to force them to work.

The occupiers forcibly took the children of some employees of the Zaporizhzhia NPP to Russia to make the nuclear workers stay at the station. This was reported by 'Glavkom' referring to a press conference with Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Oslo.
"They (the Russians - 'Glavkom') took the children from many of them, put them on buses and transported them to the territory of the Russian Federation. This is how people work. That's how it is. You would do anything for your child. I am sure you think the same way. I can tell you this as a father," the president said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also stated that all nuclear workers currently servicing the station are Ukrainians, and the power plant itself is the property of Ukraine, recognized by both the IAEA and other international institutions.
"The Zaporizhzhia NPP belongs to Ukraine, and everyone recognizes this. Moreover, the staff working there are personnel who received regular salaries from Ukraine. Yes, (the Russians - ed.) illegally changed the leadership of the station, but all the employees there are Ukrainians," he emphasized.
In addition, Zelensky noted that even despite IAEA monitoring and various inspections, the station is currently in a 'difficult technical condition.'
"Everyone understands that the station must be constantly cooled, and for this, it needs to be properly maintained technically. After the Russians blew up the dam, there is no normal water supply there. Therefore, the station is currently in very difficult technical conditions," the Ukrainian leader noted.
Moreover, Zelensky denied that he discussed the possibility of transferring the Zaporizhzhia NPP or other nuclear power plants to the ownership of the USA with Donald Trump the day before.
The United States is considering the possibility of participating in the management of Ukrainian nuclear power plants
U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright stated that the country has 'vast technical experience' for managing such facilities. 'I don’t think that military involvement is necessary for this,' he noted.
U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are actively working to end the war in Ukraine. According to Wright, if managing Ukrainian NPPs becomes a necessary tool to achieve this goal, the U.S. is ready to take on this responsibility.
