Drivers explained whether to turn on headlights outside the city: in which case fines are threatened.

Drivers were explained whether to turn on headlights outside the city during the day and what fines are threatened for their non-use. This was reported by lawyer Vadym Volodarsky in a comment for RBC-Ukraine.
Recently, many questions have arisen among Ukrainian motorists regarding the rules for using lighting devices outside settlements during the day. Many drivers do not know whether to turn on the headlights during the day outside the city, which lighting devices need to be used, and what fines are threatened for violating these rules.
According to the clarifications in the updated edition of the Traffic Regulations, if the vehicle does not have built-in daytime running lights, the driver is obliged to turn on the low beam headlights.
From May 1, 2024, changes have been made to the traffic rules, according to which drivers must always turn on the running lights or low beam headlights when driving outside settlements, and not only in season.
Lawyer Volodarsky believes that the requirement to turn on the headlights during daylight hours in Ukraine is not mandatory and has no positive impact on traffic safety.
Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department Oleksii Biloshytsky claims that the headlights are an additional passive traffic safety measure and should contribute to reducing accidents.
Ukrainian legislation also provides for punishment for the incorrect use of turn signals, but only a warning is provided for turning on the headlights during the daylight hours.
Thus, drivers should always turn on the low beam headlights or running lights when driving outside settlements, regardless of the Time of day and year.
