Ukrainian powerlifter who became world champion. Let us remember Dmytro Hohol.

Every day at 9 am, Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives ended in the Russo-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Dmytro Hohol.
On October 24, 2023, the athlete and coach from Vinnytsia, Dmytro Hohol, died while engaged in the evacuation of the wounded at the front. He was known as a powerlifter and European champion as well as world champion GPF-2018. This was reported by the Medical Volunteer Battalion 'Hospitalliere'.
Dmytro Hohol was born on February 21, 1976, and dedicated his whole life to sports. He was a powerlifter, won international competitions, and held the title of Master of Sports of Ukraine. Recently, he worked as a coach in Vinnytsia, promoted Gireweightlifting, and acted as a sports rehabilitation doctor.
During the large-scale Russian invasion, Dmytro Hohol joined the Medical Volunteer Battalion 'Hospitalliere'. He worked with the team near Kreminna. All rotations took place at the front.
He died in the eastern war zone. On October 24, the vehicle he was driving was subjected to massive artillery fire.
On the morning of the same day, he sent a photo to his student Viktoriia Palamarczuk, two-Time Ukrainian champion in powerlifting, and wrote that he was on duty and that there were many shots fired at him. This was his last living photo. Dmytro Hohol was 47 years old at the time of his death.
'Dmytro Hohol joined the Hospitalliers during the comprehensive war, suspending his sports career and training. He completed all rotations at the front, where it is most dangerous and where fighters need the most help. We express our condolences to Dmytro's family, his brothers and sisters, friends, and colleagues - this is a great loss for Ukraine,' wrote the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Yana Zinkevich, on her Facebook page.
The hero's funeral took place at the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral of the PZU. The defender's body was buried in a closed coffin at the Glory Alley of the Sabarivski Cemetery in Vinnytsia.
Dmytro left behind a mother who had arrived from Spain, as well as a wife who lives with their daughter in Poland.
'Glavkom' joins in a moment of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who fell in the struggle for their homeland. We remember the fallen at the hands of the Russian invaders, lighting memorial candles and mourning during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring the memory of the citizens of Ukraine who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and independence of our state: all those who died fighting against Russian occupiers and as a result of the attack by hostile troops on Ukrainian cities and villages.
