Ukraine creates conditions for sustainable subsoil use and is open to investments - Minister.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Svitlana Hrynychuk stated that Ukraine is creating conditions for sustainable subsoil use and is open to investments.
She said this during the panel 'Critical Raw Material' at the preparatory event of the conference 'On the Road to URC 2025' in Italy.
'During the conversation, she emphasized that Ukraine is studying international experience in applying early environmental impact assessment in the mining sector. This approach is promising for us and will allow for more effective implementation of the projects,' Svitlana Hrynychuk noted.
Panel participants also discussed the implementation of ESG principles in the Ukrainian business environment and the reform of subsoil use, which Ukraine continues to implement even under wartime conditions.
New conditions for sustainable subsoil use
- unified domestic legislation to European standards;
- ensured transparent licensing mechanisms and introduced electronic auctions;
- updated the State Program for the Development of the Mineral Resource Base of Ukraine until 2030;
- envisaged gradual restoration of funding for geological exploration;
- continue digitizing geological information and have already transitioned subsoil users to a digital format of interaction with the state;
- have made significant progress in converting reserves and resources from the old Soviet calculation system;
'We understand that the extraction industry will play a key role in Ukraine's post-war recovery, so our primary task is to create comfortable investment conditions and clear rules,' Svitlana Hrynychuk emphasized.
The government is also working on a regulatory framework that will enhance the investment attractiveness of the sector and facilitate the green transition.
'Ukraine is interested not only in investments but also in developing the industry based on sustainable principles,' the Minister emphasized.
