A draft law No. 13312 is being discussed in parliament, aimed at protecting agricultural producers from the unfair practices of large retail chains. The idea is actively discussed in the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on Agricultural and Land Issues.According to the proposal, the primary goal is to provide farmers with additional opportunities in the market and to establish strict payment conditions for their products. The authors of the draft law explained that this initiative is needed due to many factors, including the ineffectiveness of support for small agricultural businesses, abuses by large retail chains, the lack of support for organic and artisanal goods in public procurement, high commissions for small suppliers, and the need to implement European standards. The content of the draft law includes the implementation of innovative standards in agriculture and trade, creating support for producers of organic and artisanal products, as well as increasing food safety and supporting family farms.
