A legendary opera singer of Ukrainian descent has died in the USA.


Opera singer Paul Plishka has died in the USA
83-year-old opera singer of Ukrainian descent Paul Plishka has left this world in the USA. He performed 1,672 shows at the Metropolitan Opera over the course of 51 years. This was reported by AP.
Paul Plishka was born in 1941 in Old Forge, Pennsylvania, to a family of Ukrainian immigrants. At the age of 16, he moved with his family to Paterson, New Jersey.
Paul Plishka's career began in 1967 with his debut in the opera 'Gioconda' by Amilcare Ponchielli and lasted until 2018 when he participated in the performance of 'La Bohème' by Giacomo Puccini. Over more than 50 years at the Metropolitan Opera, he took part in 1,672 performances.
Paul Plishka also sang with La Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House in London, and the New York City Opera, as well as performing at the Salzburg Festival in 1988.
However, he spent most of his career at the Met. He announced his retirement in 2012, but later returned and performed another 30 shows in the roles of Benoit the landlord and Musetta's admirer Alcindoro in 'La Bohème' from 2016 to 2018.
Paul Plishka died on February 3 in a hospice in Wilmington, North Carolina.
It should be noted that American director David Lynch has died. He was 78 years old.
