Akif Cagatay Kilic, foreign policy advisor to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stated that the main obstacle to a peaceful resolution of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia is 'the loss of trust'.
This was stated by Kilic in his interview with the British publication The Guardian.
Kilic stated: 'The main problem is the loss of trust. No one trusts each other.'
Turkey continues to act as a mediator in the negotiation process, maintaining constructive relations with both Kyiv and Moscow, despite its military support for Ukraine.
In 2022, Ankara held negotiations and expressed its readiness to provide a platform for dialogue again if the parties made such a proposal.
It is worth noting that Turkey is ready to provide troops for a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
