The State Department named the reason for the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Kursk operation.

US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel stated that the situation in Russia's Kursk region is a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
"It was President Putin who invaded Ukraine, and Ukraine is defending itself from this aggression," Patel said.
Patel emphasized that the United States did not participate in the planning or preparation of the Kursk operation.
According to the State Department representative, the US continues to support Ukraine in its ability to defend itself, especially from attacks or operations that may be carried out from abroad.
Washington will continue to provide necessary support to its Ukrainian partners, Patel stated.
Regarding the possibility of Ukraine using American long-range weapons, Patel noted that there have been no changes in US policy.
