An explosion occurred at a nuclear submarine plant in the UK: there are casualties (photos, videos).


There was a fire at the BAE Systems plant in the UK, which resulted in two people being injured, according to the police in Cumbria.
The fire at the facility in Barrow-in-Furness is still ongoing. Emergency services are working at the scene and trying to control the fire.
As a result of the fire, two people were hospitalized with suspected smoke inhalation.
Nevertheless, the police stated that there is no nuclear risk. Local residents are advised to stay at home and keep windows and doors closed until the fire is extinguished. The road on the Michaelson bridge has also been closed.

BAE Systems is one of the largest defense technology manufacturers in the world. The company is involved in the production of nuclear submarines, fighters, tanks, ships, and weapons. It also builds Type 26 frigates for the Royal Navy and develops electronic warfare systems for F-35 fighters. In Barrow-in-Furness, the company designs the Astute and Dreadnought nuclear submarines.
