The Third Separate Assault Brigade becomes the Third Army Corps
The Third Separate Assault Brigade, which is part of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is becoming the Third Army Corps, as reported by the brigade's official website.
The brigade commander Andriy Biletsky announced that the change of status took place on Ukrainian Volunteer Day. He also noted that the corps plans to change the principles of warfare.
The Third Army Corps plans to build on the basis of combat training, a professional sergeant corps, and management, planning, and technological operations. Over the past three years, the brigade has gained experience in combat operations, conducted counteroffensives, and proved effective in the use of drones at the front. Now it is Time to expand horizons.
Earlier, the deputy commander of the brigade had already spoken about creating a corps system in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi earlier announced the implementation of organizational reforms for the Armed Forces to transition to a corps structure. According to analysts from the American Institute for the Study of War, this will significantly strengthen Ukraine.
It is worth noting that the use of corps structures for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is not a novelty, as they have already been used since 2023. Ukraine has formed the ninth and tenth army corps, restructured its reserve corps into the eleventh army corps in 2023, and is now forming the fourth army corps.
