Trump may close US consulates to save the State Department budget.

The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of closing some consulates and diplomatic missions of the United States around the world in order to reduce costs. This was reported by NBC News.
According to NBC, among the consulates that may be closed are representations in Europe, Canada, Mexico, and the Pacific islands. Details of the closures and timelines are still unknown.
The administration is also assessing the necessity of maintaining certain consulates and additional government activities, such as military deployments or gathering intelligence. Representatives of the State Department conducting the assessment of the consulates are also considering the importance of diplomatic missions in the context of the 'America First' program.
Most of the consulates that may be closed are located in Germany and France. They contacted these consulates for information about their activities.
Since the beginning of his presidency, Trump has been actively working on 'reforming the federal bureaucracy' and implementing his political plans. He has already taken numerous executive orders, canceled programs, and changed personnel in national security and foreign policy agencies.
