Ukraine, Russia, and the USA are working out issues of a ceasefire in the Black Sea and the resumption of grain supplies

On March 23, the first tripartite negotiations between Ukraine, Russia, and the USA regarding a ceasefire in the Black Sea and the resumption of grain supplies will take place in Riyadh. This is reported by The Washington Post.

According to the statement from the publication, representatives of the Ukrainian and Russian delegations will not meet, but will be in separate rooms, and intermediaries will convey messages. 'These will be indirect negotiations... something like shuttle diplomacy in a hotel,' explained the special representative of the US president for Ukraine, Kurt Volker.

The main focus of the negotiations will be on a ceasefire in the Black Sea. The need for such negotiations arose because 'Ukraine paralyzed' a large part of the Russian fleet and controls most of the waters using maritime drones. Experts believe that this is not a complete success for Russia, so Putin agreed to a partial ceasefire in this area.

Another key issue is the resumption of Ukrainian grain supplies through the Black Sea.

The agreement on grain exports from Ukrainian ports, concluded in the summer of 2022, was suspended a year after signing amid accusations. As a result, Ukraine is using more expensive export routes through land corridors in Europe and the Danube River.

At the negotiations, the Russian delegation will be led by Senator Grigory Karasin and the advisor to the FSB director Sergey Beseda. Ukraine will be represented by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Deputy Head of the President's Office Pavel Palisa, and energy and port infrastructure experts. The USA has sent the Director of Policy Planning and representatives from the National Security Advisor's office.

Earlier, the 'central issues' of the negotiations regarding the ceasefire were revealed.
