The President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, has been detained at his residence. According to law enforcement, this arrest is the first in the country's history involving a sitting president. The detention took place in connection with an alleged attempt to organize a coup.
The detained individual has been taken to the office of anti-corruption investigations, where he will be held for the next 48 hours. Subsequently, a decision regarding his arrest will be made.
The president is suspected of being involved in the attempted organization of a coup. He remains the head of state despite the suspension of his powers.
