It's not worth relaxing: what weather to expect in summer after an abnormal spring.

Ukrainian citizens learned about the weather they can expect in 2025.
Climate scientist Vera Balabukh reported this in a comment for UNN.
In spring 2025, extraordinary weather phenomena were observed in Ukraine. During this period, there were high temperatures, a lack of precipitation, and early blossoming of nature. These changes are affecting the climate and are becoming increasingly noticeable in Ukraine.
In March, significant deviations from the norm were already noticed. March was exceptionally warm and dry. The average temperature was 3.5-5 degrees above the norm.
The forecasts for the coming months are not pleasant - a hot and dry summer is expected with an increased risk of fires and possible new temperature records.
'The average air temperature ranges from 6-6.5 degrees in the north and northeast to 8 degrees and above in the south of Odesa region. This is a very high temperature linked to high maximum temperature values that sometimes exceed 20 degrees,' explained the climatologist.
According to the expert, the predominance of anticyclonic weather has led to a precipitation deficit across almost all of Ukraine. In central and southern regions, rainfall was less than half of the norm. The wind speed has also decreased.
'Arctic intrusion in April led to a drop in temperature. Although the average temperature remained positive, it was frosty at night, from 5-7 degrees. Therefore, the first decade of April was colder by 1-4 degrees than the norm,' Balabukh explained.
However, warm air masses coming to Ukraine will help raise the temperature. The second decade of April will be 2-3 degrees warmer than the norm, and the average temperature will exceed 15 degrees in many regions.
'Such a temperature is usually characteristic of summer. However, one should not relax - the weather will change extremely, and short-term cold snaps are possible,' the climatologist noted.
In 2025, spring came earlier than usual. In December and January, the temperature rose above zero, causing premature blooming of plants. Winter returned briefly in February, but the overall trend remained unchanged.
Balabukh predicts that the summer of 2025 will be hot and dry. According to calculations from global climate centers, the average summer temperature will be 2 degrees above the norm, and the amount of precipitation will be below the norm, increasing the fire hazard.
The expert also noted that weather anomalies and temperature records are becoming common annual phenomena, and likely, 2025 will not be an exception. At the same Time, she warned that accurately predicting extreme temperatures in the long term is impossible - seasonal forecasts can only show general trends, and precise data becomes known only a few days before the event.
Particular concern is raised by the fact that climate changes lead to transformations in natural zones, negatively affecting agriculture. Balabukh warns that a lack of precipitation and prolonged heat periods create unnatural conditions for growing many crops.
'It is becoming increasingly difficult for us to obtain stable yields of cabbage, cucumbers, and potatoes. Unfortunately, these trends will only intensify. Therefore, we need to adapt to new conditions,' the climatologist emphasized.
Recall that the Hydrometeorological Center reported whether frosts are possible in May.
