Russians captured Suja in the Kursk region - ISW.


The city of Suja in the Kursk region has been captured by Russian troops, and they are engaged in battles with Ukrainian forces in the villages of the border Sumy region. According to a report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), reports Glavkom.
Geolocation footage released on March 12 shows that Russian troops have captured Suja and are moving towards the southern part of the village Zaoleshenske. Ukrainian troops have begun to retreat from Suja.
According to Russian military bloggers, the capture of the city involved units of the Russian army and GRU special forces. Russian troops are conducting a 'cleansing' in the villages.
Also, footage from March 11 shows that the Russian army advanced west of the village Basivka in the Sumy region, near the international border.
Russian military bloggers report that Russian troops have occupied positions in various areas, including the districts of Sverdlikovo, Kozacha Loknia, Zaoleshenka, Honcharivka, Kurylivka, and Huyevo. They are also continuing their advance in other directions.
Combat operations are ongoing in various villages of the Sumy region. One of the Russian bloggers suggests creating a buffer zone in the Sumy region after pushing Ukrainian forces out of the Kursk region.
Furthermore, according to Russian media, Ukrainian troops struck Russian forces in the Kursk region using the HIMARS system.
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Kursk region for the first Time. According to reports from Russian media, he stated the need for complete liberation of the Kursk region and the establishment of a security zone at the border. He also called for treating captured Ukrainian military personnel as terrorists.
