In the Kursk region, the Russian army has been accumulating reserves of personnel and equipment since December last year. This became known during a telethon, where spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko reported on the continued shelling of the Sumy region by the occupiers. Demchenko stated that Russian forces were used against Ukrainian military personnel who were carrying out their operation in the Kursk region. Subsequently, these forces were redirected to form small tactical assault groups. Demchenko also noted that there is a possibility that the enemy is preserving equipment for future use, as it is currently not being employed in the Sumy direction. In the Sumy direction, shelling is regularly recorded using drones, artillery and guided aerial bombs. The Russians intend to destroy the positions of Ukrainian defenders and shell populated areas. Additionally, Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are operating in the Sumy region. They infiltrate Ukrainian territory on foot and use ATVs to accumulate forces and expand the zone of military actions affecting Ukraine's territorial integrity. Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported the establishment of a so-called security zone in the border areas of the Sumy region of Ukraine. It should be noted that given the current pace of military operations, the Russian Federation will require a long Time and significant losses to completely seize Ukraine. The Ukrainian military continues to fight and defend their positions.
