WTA Ranking. Svitolina has taken a step towards the top 20.


Updated ranking of the best female tennis players in the world
Today, March 17, the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) published the updated ranking of the best female tennis players in the world.
As a result of the tournament in Indian Wells, Elina Svitolina moved up one position and currently holds the 22nd place in the world ranking. Last week, in the tournament in the USA, Svitolina reached the quarterfinals, where she lost to the future champion Mirra Andreyeva.
Marta Kostyuk is currently in 29th place, while Dayana Yastremska moved up to 42nd place. Angelina Kalinina remains outside the top 50, currently occupying the 55th place (-1) in the world ranking.
This week, Yulia Starodubtseva moved up two positions to 108th place. Daria Snygurova lost nine positions and is now in 137th place in the WTA ranking.
Anastasia Soboleva set her personal record after reaching the semifinals at the ITF W75 tournament in Hungary, returning to the top 200 and rising to 197th place (+22 places) for the first Time.
Lesya Tsurenko, who has not played any matches this year, has left the top 200 of the world ranking for the first time since July 2010 and is currently in 209th place (-23 places). In her career, Tsurenko spent 750 weeks in the top 200 of the WTA ranking.
In the doubles ranking, Lyudmila Kichenok remains the number one racket of Ukraine, currently holding 9th place in the world ranking. Nadia Kichenok dropped to 41st place (-1 position), and Marta Kostyuk occupies 57th position in the WTA doubles ranking.
As reported, Elina Svitolina confirmed that she will play for the national team in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers.
“Yes, I plan to play for the national team, and it's great that the matches will be on clay, as it fits well into our tournament schedule. It's also great that we are playing in Poland, as there are many Ukrainians there, and it's close to our country, so I hope for loud support from our fans. We will really need it. So yes, I am looking forward to the matches for the national team. This will be a new and quite interesting format for us, and I really hope for a good result for our team,” Svitolina said.
Let’s remind that the group matches in which the Ukrainian team will participate will take place in the Polish city of Radom on a closed clay court.
On April 11, our team will play against Poland, and the next day will meet with the Swiss team.
The winning team of the group will advance to the final tournament of the Billie Jean King Cup.
