"Laid for 77 years." A piece of Queen Elizabeth II's wedding cake sold at auction.

At the auction, a piece of the cake from the wedding of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip was sold for 2,200 pounds sterling. This is a piece of wedding fruitcake that has survived for 77 years, found under a bed in a suitcase. This cake was served to their 2000 guests at the wedding.

Once, when Elizabeth was still a princess, she shared this cake with housekeeper Marion Paulson, thanking her for it. The woman did not eat the cake but kept it under the bed. The cake was found in a suitcase in its original packaging with a letter from Elizabeth II dated 1947.

The cake was sold at an auction in China for an initial price of 500 pounds sterling, but eventually, the price rose to 2,220 pounds sterling. The new owner of the cake remains unknown.

The value of the historical piece of cake is due to its uniqueness and connection to the royal family. Auction house sellers emphasized that the cake is not in the best condition and is not recommended to be eaten.

Among other rarities sold at the auction was the first edition of the Harry Potter novel with unique errors, which was sold for 53,500 euros; and a hat from the Indiana Jones movie, for which 630,000 dollars were paid. An unusually shaped egg was also sold at the auction for 150 British pounds.
