Poland strengthens security on the border with Russia
Poland has announced the creation of a new military brigade on the border with Russia. This military unit, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, will comprise several thousand soldiers. The core of the brigade will be the 16th Motorized Brigade, which is the youngest unit of the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division. Over the past 11 months, more than 600 soldiers have already joined it.
In addition, Poland is preparing its civilian airports for possible military use. The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Infrastructure are negotiating the modernization of airports for defense purposes. The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure has also confirmed that the government is considering increasing the number of airports that can be used by the military.
Poland also plans to provide €200 million in financial aid to Ukraine and transfer additional Starlink terminals. By 2024, Ukraine will receive 24,400 such terminals.
