After the death of two grandsons, the grandfather of the Ratushny brothers has died.


The grandfather of the Heroes Ratushny has passed away
Yesterday, March 1, Yuriy Ratushny passed away - the grandfather of the famous warriors Vasyl and Roman. This was reported by Yuriy's son, Taras Ratushny.
'Yuriy Lavrentiyevich Ratushny has gone to the other world, the grandfather of Vasya and Roma Ratushny.. 10.18.1931 - 03.01.2025', - wrote Taras Ratushny on his Facebook.
The man died at the age of 93 from natural causes.
Let us remind you that Roman Ratushny died during the war in June 2022, participating in a battle against Russian occupiers near Izium in the Kharkiv region. Both brothers, Vasyl and Roman, were active participants in the Revolution of Dignity.
Roman Ratushny is known as an activist and defender of the historical and cultural heritage of Kyiv and all of Ukraine. He founded and led the Public Organization 'Let’s Protect Protasiv Yar'. His death shocked many Ukrainians, many of whom did not even know him personally but felt the loss of one of their closest friends.
On February 27, 2025, Vasyl Ratushny, Roman's brother, was killed during a combat sortie by an FPV drone strike. Vasyl was a pilot of the UAV 'Madjar Birds'.
In peacetime, Vasyl was engaged in house construction, he was a virtuoso alt-saxophonist and pianist, painted pictures, made knives, which he gifted to his mother on her birthday, as well as made replicas of Viking weapons and handcrafted furniture.
The boys' mother, Svitlana Povalyaeva, is a well-known writer.
