Screening for the EU: social policy and employment

A meeting of representatives of Ukraine and the European Commission is taking place in Brussels, where the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU legislation in the field of social policy and employment is being studied. This is part of Ukraine's process of joining the European Union.

The Government of Ukraine is actively engaged in reforming labor legislation, which has not been changed since 1971. The goal is to create a competitive labor market, protect workers' rights, and establish fair working conditions. A 'Strategy to Ensure the Right of Every Child in Ukraine to Grow Up in a Family Environment for 2024-2028' has also been adopted, covering EU policies and best practices. Ukraine is also requesting to join the EU program 'Youth Guarantee' and the European Employment Services (EURES) network, and to utilize the tools of the European Social Fund.

Such initiatives are crucial for Ukraine's integration into the EU as they contribute to modernizing the labor market and social policy, ensuring social stability and compliance with European standards. Cooperation with the European Labour Authority (ELA) also strengthens the protection of workers' rights, especially abroad. The Government of Ukraine also wishes to sign an agreement to join the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) within the framework of the 'Eastern Partnership'.
