Foster Care Works: 650 Children Remain in Families Instead of Orphanages

The popularity of the foster care service in Ukraine is rapidly growing. Over the past year and a half, the number of foster families has exceeded 500, indicating a positive trend in the development of this field. In 2024, approximately 1,019 children were placed under the care of foster educators, allowing them to receive proper care in a cozy family environment.

This service has become an alternative to institutional upbringing, helping children find new families and solving parental issues. This approach helps avoid children staying in orphanages, providing them with more comfortable conditions for development and growth.

The most active regions in implementing the foster care service are Kharkiv, Cherkasy, and Kirovohrad, while Volyn and Transcarpathia require more attention. Data indicates the significant role of foster families in saving children from institutional care, making it essential to further develop this area to ensure a better future for our children.
