The survey showed how many Russians support peace and continuing negotiations

According to research by the 'Levada Center', in May 2025, 64% of Russians supported the idea of peaceful negotiations with Ukraine, which is a record high since the beginning of the invasion. As reported by 'Glavkom', in March this figure was 6% lower, and only 28% of respondents were against continuing the war.

Women, youth under 24, rural residents, and those who do not support Putin's policies are most eager for peace. On the other hand, men, retirees, and residents of Moscow are more likely to support continuing the war.

87% of respondents supported the continuation of the war after the first meeting between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul on May 16

According to the survey, 73% of respondents believe that the causes of the conflict must be addressed before ending the war. Only 18% hold the opposite view. The research was conducted among more than 1,600 Russians in 50 regions.

Changes in Attitude Towards Ukraine

The latest research by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion showed that the attitude of Russians towards Ukraine has become less hostile. Only 38% of respondents consider Ukraine an enemy, which is the lowest level since 2014, when active anti-Ukrainian propaganda began.

Thus, the majority of Russians expressed a desire to end the war with Ukraine through peaceful negotiations, emphasizing the need to address the underlying causes of the conflict. There is also a noted decrease in the number of people who consider Ukraine their enemy, which is a positive trend.

Reports from 'Glavkom' about the 'Levada Center' study show that already 64% of Russians support the idea of peaceful negotiations with Ukraine. This record figure indicates a change in sentiment and a desire to end the war through diplomatic means, which may suggest positive developments in relations between the countries.
