Prices for vegetables and fruits

Ukrainians were informed about the price prospects for vegetables and fruits until 2025. According to 'Khvylia', a material from RBC-Ukraine notes that the new harvest is starting to enter Ukrainian stores, which will lead to a decrease in prices for seasonal products.

Spring frosts may become an obstacle to the availability of some vegetables. Usually in spring, greenhouse vegetables are brought out first, followed by field crops. In May, the amount of local strawberries on the shelves also increases. Prices for seasonal products will differ from previous years.

'The weather conditions we have in spring do not add optimism regarding berries and fruits, as it is still not entirely clear how frosts have affected the flowering of plants,' said Maksym Hopka, an analyst at the Ukrainian Club of Agricultural Business.

Tomatoes

The prices for greenhouse tomatoes have dropped by 18% compared to the end of April and now stand at 70-100 UAH/kg wholesale. The demand for domestic greenhouse products is gradually increasing, which may positively affect prices in this segment.

Cucumbers

The prices for greenhouse cucumbers have also decreased by 12% over the week and currently stand at 40-70 UAH/kg wholesale. The increased supply of warm cucumbers has led to a decrease in prices. Currently, cucumber prices in the markets are already 29% lower than the levels in May 2024.

White cabbage

The price for new harvest white cabbage is still high, but prices for last year's cabbage have decreased. Further price reductions are expected due to difficulties in selling stocks.

Fruits and berries

With minor losses in the apple and pear harvest due to frosts, the losses of Ukrainian fruits may force an increase in the share of imported products in the markets. The demand for berries and fruits remains stable.

It is expected that prices for fruits and berries may rise due to difficulties in growing Ukrainian products.
