No forced mobilization of people aged 60+ can take place

People's Deputy from the 'Servant of the People' faction Fedir Venislavskyi stated that forced mobilization of citizens aged 60 and over is not provided for and will not be carried out. According to him, individuals in this age category are removed from military accounting and cease to be military obligated, so they can only be mobilized on a voluntary basis.

This was explained by Venislavskyi on Monday, July 21.

Venislavskyi reported that the Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law that allows citizens aged 60+ to sign contracts for military service solely on a voluntary basis.

'60 years means that the person is removed from military accounting, ceases to be military obligated and can continue service only at their voluntary consent, only on a contractual basis, if our Armed Forces require it', emphasized the MP during the briefing.

He also noted that there are already enough specialists aged 60+ working in the defense sector who perform important specific tasks. In particular, some of them participated in events that, according to the Armed Forces, occurred for the first Time in history. Senior officers possess unique knowledge of Soviet weaponry, which is still in use today, and this makes them important for the country's defense.

The Ukrainian People's Deputy emphasized that citizens aged 60+ will not be forcibly mobilized and can serve in the Armed Forces only at their own desire. This initiative allows attracting experienced specialists who have unique knowledge and skills useful for the defense of the country.
