The mayor of Irpin Markushin's house arrest extended for a month.

The Pechersk District Court extended the preventive measure against Oleksandr Markushin
On Friday, March 19, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv extended the preventive measure against the mayor of Irpin Oleksandr Markushin for a month. This was reported with reference to 'Suspilne'.
The court satisfied the request of the SBI and kept Markushin under round-the-clock house arrest until April 23.
Markushin and his lawyers disagree with the decision and will file an appeal.
'I believe that the court is acting biased and continues to execute someone's commands. They accept pre-written decisions. But we will continue to fight. And we are submitting a motion for appeal together with the defenders,' Markushin said.
On March 19, the Pechersk Court was supposed to consider the issue of suspending Markushin from the position of mayor, but the hearing was postponed to the next day.
Markushin's suspicion of illegal border crossing
In February, the Kyiv Court of Appeal partially satisfied the appeal regarding the preventive measure against Markushin and sent him under round-the-clock house arrest.
Markushin previously confirmed that the State Bureau of Investigation handed him a suspicion of illegal border crossing. He noted that he left Ukraine for a few days to pick up military aid and spend Time with his son.
Markushin stated that during his son's birthday celebration, a deputy of the Irpin City Council and another man also came to Italy, who filmed 'video evidence' of his 'crime.'
The mayor of Irpin believes that the investigation is a 'ordered case' and claims that it is aimed at his removal from office before an important city council session, where the issue of canceling land lease will be considered.
Markushin's suspension from duties
Judge Svitlana Hrechana of the Pechersk Court of Kyiv suspended the Marshal of Irpin from duties during the investigation of his departure abroad.
