Meat assaults, drones, and CABs: what's happening in the battles for Kurschyna.

Fierce battles continue in Kurschyna
The Russian army continues to fight against Ukrainian forces in Kurschyna. Russia is using hundreds of personnel, equipment, and aviation to attack the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The battles have become more intense since the beginning of the Kursk operation in the summer of 2024.
The goal of the Russian command is to oust Ukrainian forces by the end of January, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are managing to hold their positions and prevent the enemy's advance.
'Currently, the Russians' tactics in Kurschyna have changed significantly. They have brought large groups of people here and are conducting offensive operations,' said Yegor Nozdryakov, commander of the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade.
According to Nozdryakov, Russian fighters use chaotic attacks, even managing to call in artillery fire and organize clashes in the thickets. Ukrainian forces repel attacks using drones, machine-gun ambushes, and artillery systems with cluster munitions.
'Cluster munitions are very effective, but their supply is limited. Two or three guns can destroy half a column moving through the fields,' emphasized Nozdryakov.
The greatest advantage of the enemy is the large number of personnel. According to Commander Nozdryakov, the Russian command does not respect the lives of its soldiers and sends them to assault without a specific purpose or planning.
Despite this, Ukrainian soldiers successfully repel attacks and inflict losses on the enemy. Nozdryakov's brigade destroyed a drone belonging to the famous Russian military blogger Yegor Poddubny and captured one Russian soldier during the fighting near the village of Zeleny Shlyakh, as well as destroyed 24 marines.
