Maradona's son accused doctors of negligence

Diego Maradona's son stated that the doctors who treated his father before his death were negligent. This information was reported by the publication 'Glavkom' referencing RMC Sport.

Diego Maradona died on November 25, 2020, of cardiac arrest. Three weeks prior to his death, he underwent a surgery to remove a subdural hematoma.

A court in the Argentine city of San Isidro is hearing the case regarding the death of the World Cup champion. Charges have been brought against eight doctors.

The most painful part of this process for me is that they killed him. This is absolutely obvious. They did not treat him properly and did nothing to save him. I am sure that we will prove that negligence occurred. If they had treated him properly, he could be sitting here right now,' said Maradona's son.

Today's defendants are accused of murder. The eighth defendant will be tried by jury at the end of the process. For such crimes in Argentina, imprisonment of 8 to 25 years is foreseen. Five of Maradona's children are acting as plaintiffs in this case.

Prosecutor Ferrari accused the medics who treated Maradona of lying in court.

Whoever tells you that they did not notice what was happening with Diego is lying to your face. His condition spoke for itself. Anyone who thinks about their relative and sees him lying in bed in such a state for several days is deceived, not to mention that he became a victim of murder. While this was happening, everyone was only concerned with filling out reports rather than helping him,' said the prosecutor.

The prosecutor also accused the medical team and those responsible for reckless treatment of being jointly responsible for Maradona's death.

Everyone who visited the deceased and had the opportunity to see his condition warned the doctors and those responsible for his treatment at home about his critical condition,' added prosecutor Ferrari.
