Do not delay with the submission of documents: Ukrainians urged to apply for payments immediately.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine calls on the relatives of fallen servicemen to urgently submit documents to receive unpaid monetary support and other compensations. According to the rules, applications can be submitted within three years, but hesitation may lead to loss of financial support.
Rights of Relatives of Fallen Servicemen
The Ministry of Defense provides an opportunity for the relatives of deceased or missing servicemen to receive all payments that were due to the defender and were not received by them. This includes monthly monetary support, additional rewards, compensations, and other types of assistance.
Payment Order for Monetary Support
- Monthly monetary support accrued until the date of death;
- Additional reward according to the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 168;
- Unused health improvement assistance;
- One-Time material assistance for solving social and household issues;
- Compensation for unused vacation days;
- Reimbursement of burial expenses, funeral services, and the establishment of a tombstone.
To receive funds, relatives or heirs must submit an application to the relevant authorities, indicating the bank details for the transfer.
Order of Payments
- Husband or wife of the deceased
- Adult children or legal representatives of minors
- Parents
If there are no individuals in the first queue, the right to receive payments passes to the next category. The distribution of funds among heirs is done equally.
It is important to submit documents for payments on time, as after three years after the serviceman's death, they become unavailable, regardless of the existing right.
'Every family that has lost a loved one in the war has the full right to receive the due monetary support. We urge you not to delay the submission of necessary documents – this is not only a right but also a way to honor the memory of the deceased and receive real support in a difficult time,' said Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Brigadier General Serhiy Melnyk.
Funding of Payments
According to the report of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, as of May 7, 2025, 19.5 billion UAH has been paid for pensions, 3018.9 million UAH for subsidies and benefits, and 1642.4 million UAH for insurance payments.
The state also provides financial support to veterans and those affected during military operations. The one-time assistance for Independence Day varies from 2700 to 3100 UAH and will be directed to persons with disabilities obtained during the war.
