Georgian Dvalishvili, who supports Ukraine, became UFC champion.


In the main event of UFC 306 in Las Vegas, Georgian Merab Dvalishvili defeated American Sean O'Malley and became the UFC champion in the bantamweight category.
The judges awarded the decision to Dvalishvili with scores of 49:46, 48:47, 48:47.
This is already the 11th consecutive victory for Merab.
This fight was notable for Dvalishvili becoming the first Georgian UFC champion in history.
After the fight, the Georgian expressed his support for Ukraine and called for an end to the war: "Thank you to all the Georgians who came here. We are only 5 million, but we are strong. And I am against the war. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Georgia! Glory to freedom! We only need freedom. No to war! Please, stop the war. Stop the war. No to war! I am against the war," said Merab Dvalishvili in March 2023 after defeating Russian Petr Yan.
In the same year, the Georgian supported Ukrainian athletes, congratulated them on Independence Day, and wished them strength and prosperity: "Happy Independence Day, Ukraine. I am here for support. I wish you guys all the best. Everything will be fine soon. And stay strong. God bless you, guys. I love Ukraine, I love Ukrainians. All my support for you, guys. Once again, happy Independence Day. Stay strong, Ukraine," stated Merab Dvalishvili.
