Greenland Is Not for Sale: Denmark Offered Trump Alternative Cooperation Options.


The Danish government has sent private messages to Donald Trump's team regarding security in Greenland and the potential increase of the American military presence on the island. This was reported by Axios, citing sources familiar with the situation.
The Danish government is responding to Trump's statements about the need to control Greenland to ensure U.S. national security in light of threats from Russia and China.
'Greenland is not for sale,' said representatives of the Danish government, who are ready to discuss any other U.S. requests regarding the island.
The Danish government is trying to avoid a public conflict with the new U.S. administration and determine Trump's true intentions. The U.S. already has a military base on the island and an active agreement with Denmark regarding territorial defense, which could serve as a basis for increasing American presence.
The Danish government also reported plans to increase investments in Greenland's military infrastructure, in agreement with the local government. Meanwhile, Trump does not rule out the possibility of using force to gain control over the island in the interest of national security.
Additionally, the Prime Minister of Greenland will discuss Trump's claims on the island with the Danish king.
