Voice of America has sued the administration of Donald Trump.

The journalists of the Voice of America portal have filed a lawsuit against U.S. President Donald Trump and Kari Lake, advisor to the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), over the closure of the funded media. This decision is considered a violation of U.S. laws and the journalists' rights to freedom of speech, which is guaranteed by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
In the collective lawsuit, the journalists argue that the closure of Voice of America is an arbitrary act that destroys the editorial independence guaranteed by the media's charter. The lawsuit emphasizes that Trump previously attempted to influence the media's operations during his tenure as president.
The case will be heard by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The administration has previously been prohibited from influencing the activities of USAGM, which is the parent company of Voice of America and Radio Free Europe. The journalists are urging the court to be decisive this Time.
In an attempt to monopolize the global space, after the closure of Voice of America, propagandists have intensified their efforts. Each week, the media had an audience of 425 million people.
The lawsuit is supported by the organization Reporters Without Borders. It is also known that Radio Free Europe has sued the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) and officials Kari Lake and Victor Morales, trying to block the decision to terminate federal funding. The media claims that the denial of funding provided by Congress is a violation of federal laws and the U.S. Constitution.
It should be noted that on March 15, Donald Trump signed an order to reduce USAGM, which is the parent company of the media, in order to combat bureaucracy.
Voice of America was established in 1942 to counter Nazi propaganda. Since then, the media has been operating continuously.
