EU Commissioner named possible date of Ukraine's accession to the EU.


Ukraine may join the European Union by 2029 - EU Commissioner
EU Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi stated that Ukraine could become a member of the European Union by 2029 if the necessary reforms are implemented.
This was reported by the German publication DW, referring to Varhelyi's statement during the presentation of the EU enlargement report.
These tools are called "Growth Plan", "Ukraine Plan", depending on the country. And with this plan, we have made it possible for the Western Balkans, Moldova, and also for Ukraine to complete reforms, to prepare everything and become a member of the EU by the end of the next mandate of the European Commission
According to Varhelyi, special tools have been developed to accelerate reforms for countries such as Ukraine, Moldova, and the Western Balkans.
Varhelyi once again emphasized that the implementation of reforms is an important condition for joining the EU.
Ukraine received EU candidate status in June 2022. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, as of September 2023, all seven recommendations of the European Commission have been fulfilled at the governmental level.
The framework for Ukraine's EU accession negotiations was also approved in March 2024.
