The energy market of Ukraine will become part of Europe by the end of 2026.
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced a plan for the full integration of the energy markets of Ukraine and Moldova into the European energy space by the end of 2026. This was stated during her speech at the plenary session of the 'Support Ukraine' summit in Kyiv.
Von der Leyen stated: 'The European Commission has developed a comprehensive strategic package of measures to ensure a sustainable, secure, and competitive energy system for Ukraine that meets European standards.' She also highlighted the contributions of European partners in supporting Ukraine in the energy sector, but emphasized the need for the full inclusion of the Ukrainian and Moldovan energy markets into the European space by next year.
According to the plan, 80% of the total gas reserves will be effectively utilized, leading to stability in the energy sector and economic benefits. These steps will significantly strengthen the energy security not only of the European Union but also of Ukraine,' von der Leyen summarized.
