‘Elite’ Russian Marine Brigade was Almost Completely Defeated Near Vuhledar – BBC.


According to the BBC report, the losses of the 155th Marine Brigade of the Russian Pacific Fleet, which participated in the battle for Vuhledar since 2022, amount to 2.4 thousand personnel. This constitutes 80% of the brigade's composition at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. At the start of the war, the brigade had about 3 thousand servicemen.
The 155th Brigade of the Russian Federation participated in military operations on the Ukrainian front from the first days of the conflict and concentrated its forces on the Vuhledar direction from the fall of 2022. In November of the same year, Russian military reported significant losses of the brigade during an offensive near Pavlivka, which is located just three kilometers from Vuhledar.
Russian troops also suffered heavy losses during the battles for Vuhledar. According to British intelligence estimates, the average losses were 1,271 personnel per day. This is the highest figure since the beginning of the war.
On Tuesday, October 2, Ukrainian forces officially confirmed their withdrawal from the city of Vuhledar. The retreat took place against the backdrop of a significant advantage of Russian forces in artillery.
Former US Army commander in Europe Ben Hodges stated that Russia is not capable of fully capitalizing on the capture of Vuhledar in the Donetsk region.
