Former NATO Commander James Stavridis suggested that the military conflict in Ukraine could end if Russian President Vladimir Putin retains control over 20% of Ukraine's territory. This is reported by Newsweek.
According to the publication, former US President Donald Trump previously claimed that he could end the conflict in 24 hours given successful negotiations with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
«I hope he (Trump) does it, and I think he will, putting pressure on both sides to bring them to the negotiation table, and it will resemble the end of the Korean War… Putin, unfortunately, will get about 20% of Ukraine, the piece he currently holds, but the rest of Ukraine, 80%, all those resources, the vast majority of the population, will remain democratic, free», – noted Stavridis.
Additionally, the former NATO Commander believes that Ukraine may join NATO within the next three to five years and has prospects for becoming a member of the European Union.
According to the International Monetary Fund's analysis, the duration of Russia's war against Ukraine will extend for another year.
