Ukraine's Membership in NATO: The Economist Proposed a Solution for Immediate Accession.

The war in Eastern Ukraine is gaining momentum, and the situation remains difficult. Losses among Russian troops are already estimated at about 500,000 soldiers, and they continue. The Ukrainian army also suffers significant losses, and its defensive lines may not withstand the pressure from Russia.
The British publication The Economist emphasizes that although most Ukrainians want victory, the number of those willing to fight is very small. There are problems with mobilization in the army, and there is a risk of winter blackouts due to infrastructure damage. Moreover, there are politicians in France and Germany who consider support for Ukraine a waste of money.
The Economist also states that there is a possibility of Ukraine being sold out by U.S. President Donald Trump, which is a serious threat.
Journalists propose a new approach to the situation and remind that this conflict started due to Russia's attempt to prevent Ukraine from becoming a Western-oriented democracy. The main goal of the war should be to prevent this. Journalists also call for continuous military support to Ukraine and the purchase of necessary weaponry.
The possibility of Ukraine's accession to NATO is also considered, even if the country remains divided. Journalists believe that this could have a significant impact. However, NATO should not extend its guarantees to the occupied territories, as was done in the GDR in the past.
The entire situation threatens the security of Ukraine and international security as a whole, and requires serious decisions and actions.
