Queue of hundreds of cars. Customs officers warned of delays at the checkpoint with Slovakia.

At one of the checkpoints on the border with Slovakia, a queue of hundreds of cars has formed due to software issues. This was reported by the State Customs Service.

According to the agency, as of November 2 at 11:00, the software of the Slovak Republic's customs service at the "Vyšne Nemecké" checkpoint has been only partially restored.

Currently, according to customs officers, the Slovak side accepts freight vehicles from the customs territory of Ukraine only with export goods, while imports are processed in limited numbers.

This has led to the formation of a queue of approximately 350 trucks on the Slovak side. The Customs Service asks carriers planning to cross the border in this direction to take this information into account when planning trips.

Let us remind you that the Slovak-Ukrainian border has five checkpoints - two road, two railway, and one pedestrian. There have also been reports of queues at three checkpoints on the border with Poland.

Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine, reported that new checkpoints will be opened on the border with Hungary and Romania, which will help alleviate congestion at major freight checkpoints.

It is worth noting that JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" has already completed part of the work on the construction of the European gauge on the Chop - Uzhhorod section, and work on the broad gauge will be completed by the end of 2024.

The USAID project "Economic Support for Ukraine" presented a new design for the largest checkpoint on the EU border - "Yagodyn". It is planned to build a new freight terminal and create additional lanes for transport there.
