A criminal case has been opened following the scandalous Ukrainian Championship in Rhythmic Gymnastics.

The championship in rhythmic gymnastics led to a court ruling
On December 9, 2024, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv made a ruling concerning the holding of the 2024 Ukrainian Championship in Rhythmic Gymnastics. This was reported by Tribuna.
By the court's decision, a criminal proceeding was initiated under Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, "Embezzlement, misappropriation of property or its acquisition by abusing one's official position".
Violators face imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years and a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for 3 years.
"During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that during the championship, there was embezzlement of state property through contracts with firms at inflated prices," court representatives stated.
The investigation revealed that the director of the firm that signed the contracts did not cross the border of Ukraine from August 13, 2024, to October 23, 2024.
This means that the director could not sign contracts or approve acts for the provision of services, making the actual provision of services impossible.
The court granted permission to conduct a search at the Sports Palace where the championship took place.
According to the investigation by Tribuna and NGL.media, the 2024 Ukrainian Championship in Rhythmic Gymnastics has become the most costly sporting event funded by the state budget since the start of the war.
