Over 300 thousand Ukrainians who were forced to leave Ukraine due to the Russian invasion have found refuge in Great Britain. This was reported by Ukrinform, citing data from the British government.
'Since the beginning of Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine, Great Britain has granted or extended refuge for more than 300 thousand Ukrainians, and our support will continue for those who need it most,' the government statement reads.
According to the report, starting February 4, 2025, the Ministry of the Interior will open applications for Ukrainian visa holders to extend their stay in Great Britain for another 18 months. This will apply to Ukrainians and will be implemented under a new scheme for extending residency permits.
'Those who are eligible will be able to apply online, and this scheme will provide the same rights and opportunities as existing schemes for Ukrainians regarding access to work, benefits, healthcare, and education,' the government added.
